Looking for a gift for your geeky valentine? I’ll have a booth at the Hip Happening at the Sellwood Masonic Hall this Saturday.
Of course, along with beautifully geeky jewelry and Sewing Electrified kits from Polymath Design Lab, there will be a wide variety of handcrafted goodies from other local artisans. Personally, I’m hoping that the fantastic chocolatier who was there in November shows up again!
A recent addition to Polymath Design Lab’s offering is the Sewing Electrified line of electronic sewing kits. I’m really excited about these kits, and I’ve heard great things back from the people who have tried them out so far.
I’ve started things off with a kit to make gloves that work with iPhones and other gadgets with capacitive touch screens, and a constellation embroidery kit that lights up with LEDs. One of my goals is to help make the field of eTextiles more accessible, so both of these kits have been designed to be easy enough for someone with little to no experience with either sewing or electronics. I’m getting ready to head off the the 11th Annual Alberta Art Hop this morning! Portland’s NE Alberta street will be closed to traffic from 15th to 29th most of the day, instead playing host to tons of incredible artists and crafters, food, music and dance performances, and fun. If you’re in the area, stop by and say hi!
Hooray! I just got my application in to be a strolling vendor at this year’s High Sierra Music Festival. I’m super excited about it – we went to the festival last year and had a great time, and to have the opportunity to go back and enjoy the music and the festival while also promoting my business is just awesome. I’m particularly excited about the roaming aspect… I won’t be tied to a booth, I’ll be able to catch the shows I want to see, and I’ll get to mod the wagon I made for the festival last year to be my little mobile ‘shoppe’.
If you’ve never vended at High Sierra before they ask you to include some promotional material with your application. As I’ve been focused on building up my product offerings and improving the quality of my photos, I didn’t yet have any printed promotional material. So, I used the quick and easy collage feature at Picnik to put together a couple of postcards – the one above that focuses on the laser cut goodies, and another focusing on my electronics work (more on that in another post).
